FACT: Dem Party offices in the red counties of purple states traditionally get little to no funding from the DNC or state parties for all the work they do, including field work to sign up Dem voters, and so much more.
ALSO A FACT: These same counties represent a hidden opportunity for their purple states. How?
CASE IN POINT: In the 2018 Florida Governor's race, Florida was still a purple state.
As an example, Lee County was a red county - 42% Republican vs 23% Democratic - so they got little to no funding.
THE RESULTS: In the 2018 Gubernatorial election, DeSantis won by 49.6% to 49.2%, just .4% (!). He edged out our Dem candidate, driving our state into a spiral of extreme rightwing policies that are crushing the health, education, quality of life, and environment in Florida. All while negatively impacting other purple states.
THE "AHA" MOMENT:
If every red county in Florida had increased Democratic turnout by just a few percent, DeSantis would have lost.
MORAL OF THE STORY: When red counties in purple states have no funds to educate their residents and register more Democratic voters, the whole state falls. Statewide and national elections that could have been won are lost.
The brutal policies of the right wing are now rapidly crushing our nation.
But it’s not too late for the midterms, to build a lasting organization of volunteers committed to stopping the Republicans.
